In response to the continued COVID-19 pandemic, the Evangelical Covenant Church has officially postponed its upcoming Midwinter Conference, originally scheduled to take place January 18-22, 2021, in Denver, to January 2022.
In lieu of Midwinter, the Covenant and the Ministerium will host virtual events in February 2021, the details of which will be shared through midwinter.covchurch.org when they are available.
“We continue to live in an unprecedented time with new realities,” said Angela Yee, chief ministry officer of the ECC and head of Covenant Events. “Based on feedback of concerns from a considerable part of our constituency and in order to safeguard the health of our Covenant family and to continue to be good neighbors to those in our local communities, we have made the decision to officially postpone Midwinter. We as Covenant leadership lament that we are not able to meet face-to-face, which we miss and long for. The importance of relationship is a core part of our Covenant identity, and we look forward to meeting virtually to continue to pursue our mission and ministry together. We are hopeful for future opportunities we will have to gather in person.”
“While it can be discouraging to face our current circumstances forced by the pandemic, we are encouraged by all the efforts our churches continue to make in connecting virtually to maintain strong communities,” said John Wenrich, president of the ECC. “Authentic relationships are foundational to who we are as a mosaic of mission friends. We are in it together and we will be together again.”
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Covenant has provided resources for local churches, which can be found at covchurch.org/covid-19/.
Each year, Midwinter attendees meet to be equipped for ministry through education, enriched through friendship, and inspired by the mission of God through the Evangelical Covenant Church. Pastors, missionaries, chaplains, seminary students, retirees, spouses, and lay leaders exploring full-time ministry from all over North America and around the globe are invited to join in community at this event.
Workshops based around the five Mission Priorities: Love Mercy Do Justice, Serve Globally, Start and Strengthen Churches, Make and Deepen Disciples, and Develop Leaders.
Pre-Events include Covenant Living Communities Chaplains Meeting, Spiritual Directors Retreat, Association of Covenant Camps and Conference Centers Annual Meeting, and the Midwinter Fitness Journey.
If you are involved in children, youth, or family ministries, consider attending one of these pre-Midwinter events (Friday-Monday, January 24-27):
